N.Z. Vitamin & Mineral Daily Limits

To ensure safety and avoid overdose and toxicity of vitamins and minerals sold over the counter by grocery, health food, pharmacy and natural health practitioners, the N.Z. Health Department has set strict daily limitations of those vitamins and minerals which could cause toxicity.

Supplement manufacturers must adhere to these safety limits when making dosage recommendations on a product. These safety limits are as follows:

Vitamin A10,000 iu (3000 mcg)
Vitamin B3100mg (in all forms nicotinic acid, nicotinamide)
Vitamin B1250mcg
Vitamin D1,000 iu (25 mcg)
Folic Acid300mcg
Copper5mg (elemental)
Iron24mg (elemental)
Selenium150mcg (elemental)
