  • Because of its high sulfur content, Garlic helps to build resistance against many kinds of microbes: bacteria, viruses and fungi.
  • Traditional Chinese Medicine values Garlic for its strong warming properties, which are excellent for cold-weather, winter ailments. Garlic is also is known for its powerful ability to clear mucous.

Vitamin C

  • Vitamin C is “the immunity vitamin”. It helps your body to build up resistance to coughs and colds; and can also help to reduce your recovery time.
  • Your white blood cells (part of your immune system) need Vitamin C to function normally and help you fight off bacterial / viral infections.
  • Your adrenal glands use up Vitamin C when they respond to stressful situations (e.g. sudden temperature changes, change of seasons, life stress, etc).
  • Your body uses Vitamin C to make collagen – a protein that helps to form healthy skin, ligaments, tendons, bones and teeth. That’s why Vitamin C is useful when you’re healing from surgery and injury.
  • Vitamin C helps your body to absorb Iron – a mineral you need for healthy red blood cells, which help to reduce fatigue and improve your immunity.
  • Finally, Vitamin C is also a powerful antioxidant that helps to protect your cells against free radical damage.

Parsley (Petroselinum crispum)

  • Parsley has a deodorising action that helps to freshen your breath.
  •  It can also help with chest congestion by loosening phlegm and making it easier for you to cough up.

Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis)

  • Marshmallow helps to soothe the membranes in your lungs if they’re irritated or inflamed from colds or flu.
  • Like Parsley, it can also help with chest congestion by loosening phlegm.

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum)

  • Fenugreek is another soothing herb for those inflamed lung membranes.
  • Like Parsley and Marshmallow, it can also help with chest congestion by making phlegm easier for you to cough up.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale)

  • Ginger is a warming herb that stimulates your circulation, which can make it helpful during winter months.
  • It also helps to clear congestion from your chest and airways.
