Overview

Why use Teen Multi tablets?

If your teenager is like most teens today, he or she may be busy and tired. Between schoolwork, sports, social lives and family obligations, teenagers can all-too-often end up eating “on the run” away from home. They may also have special dietary needs – such as vegetarians, or be watching their weight. That means they may miss out on some of the valuable vitamins (and other nutrients) their growing bodies need.

Healtheries Teen Multi is a high-potency, one-a-day multivitamin and mineral supplement packed with the nutrients that growing teenagers need. It also contains Dandelion and Echinacea, plus extra Zinc and Vitamin A to support clear, healthy skin.

Ingredient Information

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)

  • Dandelion is a liver tonic that helps your liver and kidneys to cleanse your blood. This helps to maintain a clear, healthy complexion.
  • Dandelion also supports healthy digestion and kidney function.

Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea)

  • Echinacea (also called Purple Cone Flower) was traditionally used by Native American herbalists to help fight off infections.
  • Today, we know this herb has powerful immunity-boosting properties that can help keep you healthy during cold season.
  • Echinacea also has a blood cleansing effect that can help with clearing and healing skin conditions like pimples and acne.

Kelp

  • Kelp is a large brown seaweed that grows in the Pacific Ocean. It provides a rich, natural source of Iodine and other minerals.
  • Iodine is a trace mineral that teenage bodies need for healthy growth; and one that New Zealand soils tend to be low in.

Vitamin A

  • Vitamin A is well known as the “night vision” vitamin, but it is also good for fine detail work, reading and computer vision.
  • This vitamin is also vital to maintain healthy skin. It plays a role in helping your body to produce collagen – an important protein used to form skin, hair, nails and bones.
  • Vitamin A helps to keep your mucous membranes (e.g. lungs, digestive system, mouth and nose, etc) healthy; and also supports immune system health.

B Complex Vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, PABA, Inositol, Choline, Biotin, Folic Acid)

  • B complex vitamins are critical for the body to metabolise carbohydrates, protein and fat into energy.
  • Additionally, Biotin may help to balance blood sugar; while Choline may play a major role in healthy brain function. Inositol also helps to maintain healthy mood and emotional balance.
  • Stress or poor diet can deplete B complex vitamin levels.
  • Low B complex vitamin levels can lead to tiredness, irritability, emotional imbalance, digestive problems, and difficulties coping with stress.
  • B Vitamins should be taken as complex, as individual B vitamins tend to work together.

Vitamin C

  • Vitamin C is “the immunity vitamin”. It helps your body to build up resistance to coughs and colds; and can also help to reduce your recovery time.
  • Your white blood cells (part of your immune system) need Vitamin C to function normally and help you fight off bacterial / viral infections.
  • Your adrenal glands use up Vitamin C when they respond to stressful situations (e.g. sudden temperature changes, change of seasons, life stress, etc).
  • Your body uses Vitamin C to make collagen – a protein that helps to form healthy skin, ligaments, tendons, bones and teeth. That’s why Vitamin C is useful when you’re healing from surgery and injury.
  • Vitamin C helps your body to absorb Iron – a mineral you need for healthy red blood cells, which help to reduce fatigue and support immunity.

Vitamin D / Calcium

  • The body uses Calcium to build strong, healthy, dense bones. The Calcium in Healtheries Teen Multi is from Oyster Shell Powder, a natural form which helps the body absorb it better.
  • Vitamin D helps your body to absorb and use dietary Calcium and Phosphorus.

Magnesium

  • Your body uses Magnesium to help maintain a healthy nervous system and support emotional balance.
  • Magnesium helps to balance out the Calcium levels in your body. It also helps to keep Calcium soluble, which assists in preventing stones from forming.
  • Magnesium can also help to relax tense or cramping muscles.
  • High sugar, coffee, fat, and alcohol intake can reduce your Magnesium levels. Low Magnesium levels can then lead to irritability and anxiety.

Zinc

  • Your body uses Zinc to help it absorb and use B complex vitamins.
  • Zinc is important for healthy skin, a strong immune system, sexual health and development, and healthy growth.
  • Zinc also helps your body to cope with stress and fatigue, and helps to heal injuries.

Potassium

  • Potassium is important for healthy heart muscle activity, as well as nervous system and kidney health.

Manganese

  • Manganese is used to form blood, and to help your body metabolise fats and carbohydrates.
  • Your body also uses Manganese to produce some hormones, including sex hormones and thyroxine (which helps to regulate weight and energy levels)

Iron

  • Your body uses Iron to produce haemoglobin, the molecule that transports oxygen to your tissues and muscles. This is why low Iron levels can affect your energy levels.
  • Healtheries Teen Multi uses ferrous Iron, which is easier for your body to absorb.

Chromium

  • Chromium is a trace mineral that your body uses to maintain balanced blood sugar and triglyceride levels.
  • Chromium helps your body to metabolise energy from glucose, and plays a role in producing fatty acids and cholesterol. It also appears to increase the effectiveness of insulin.

Boron

  • Your body uses Boron to help it absorb other minerals, such as Calcium, Magnesium and Phosphorus.
  • Good Boron levels also help to reduce your body’s loss of these minerals through urination.
  • Some evidence suggests that Boron can support bone strength.
