Ingredient Information

Citrus aurantium (Bitter Orange)

  • Bitter Orange peel can be used as a tonic to improve digestion, and as a laxative to prevent constipation.
  • It may also help to reduce cholesterol levels, and assist with metabolising fat.

Paullinia cupana (Guarana)

  • Guarana is an evergreen vine that is native to the Amazon basin.
  • Guarana seeds were traditionally used to reduce fatigue and hunger, and speed up digestion.
  • The active compounds in Guarana are caffeine, theobromine and theophylline, which are all alkaloids. They help to stimulate your central nervous system, increase your metabolic rate, temporarily relieve fatigue, and promote alertness and energy. They can also have a mild diuretic effect.

Zingiber officinale (Ginger)

  • Ginger can help to increase your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which can support your body’s natural fat burning processes.
  • Ginger can also support your heart health by encouraging healthy blood clotting, cholesterol levels, and triglyceride levels
  • Traditional Chinese Medicine has recommended Ginger for over 2,500 years for various kinds of digestive and abdominal issues. It acts as a digestive tract tonic that helps to stimulate digestion and tones your intestinal muscles. It also stimulates bile flow from your gallbladder, which helps you to digest fats, and supports your metabolism.
  • Other digestive properties of Ginger include helping to cleanse your colon, and helping to relieve flatulence, abdominal bloating, nausea and diarrhoea.

Garcinia quaesita (Brindleberry, or the Malabar Tamarind)

  • Brindleberry is a fruit that is native to South East Asia, where it has traditionally been used in cooking to make food more filling.
  • Today we know that Brindleberry rind is a rich source of a compound called Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA).
  • HCA can help to reduce the extent to which your body converts carbohydrate into stored fat, by inhibiting the enzyme involved in the process. It may also help to suppress your appetite.
  • Finally, HCA can help to discourage your liver from producing cholesterol.

Capsicum frutescens (Cayenne)

  • Cayenne is a potent, hot South American fruit that has been used as a medicine for centuries.
  • Traditional herbalists considered Cayenne useful for various gastrointestinal tract conditions, including stomach aches, cramping and gas. Modern herbalists now also use it to improve circulation.
  • Trials have indicated that Cayenne may help to reduce your appetite and help your body to break down and use dietary fats.

Choline bitartrate

  • Choline is a fat-soluble compound that is an essential component of your cell membranes. It can help fat to move in and out your cells.
  • Choline helps to maintain healthy arteries, and is involved in breaking down cholesterol. It may also help to maintain healthy blood pressure, and helps to regulate gallbladder function, support liver function, and discourage fatty build-ups in your liver.
Inositol
  • Inositol a B-complex vitamin. It is another essential cell membrane component, and also helps to transport fats within your body.
  • Inositol is an antioxidant that discourages your arteries from hardening. It also helps your body to metabolise cholesterol, and can support your liver and assist it to break down fats.

Chromium picolinate

  • Chromium is an essential trace mineral that helps your body to maintain balanced blood sugar levels, and to break down carbohydrates.
  • Chromium also helps to transport glucose into your cells, where it can be burned as energy. Low dietary Chromium levels can result in hyperglycaemia (high blood sugar).
  • Chromium can help your body to produce healthy levels of insulin, and can help to increase the number of insulin receptors in your cells. This can help to lower your insulin resistance. Chromium can also support healthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Potassium iodide (Iodine)

  • Iodine is a trace mineral that your thyroid gland needs to create the thyroid hormones that regulate your metabolism.
  • Iodine can help to increase your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) by stimulating your thyroid to produce these hormones. A higher BMR means you naturally burn more calories at rest. Low Iodine levels can slow your thyroid function, which can reduce the rate at which your body converts fat into energy.
  • Iodine can assist with weight management if you are overweight because of poor thyroid function. It can also support your body in absorbing carbohydrates.

Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)

  • Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that has several functions. Your body uses it to produce adrenal and thyroid hormones, which supports your energy levels and metabolism
  • Vitamin C helps to maintain balanced blood sugar levels by assisting your body to use glucose, and by helping to increase Chromium absorption.
  • Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects LDL (bad) cholesterol from free radical damage, and helps to increase HDL (good) cholesterol levels. It is also involved in the process of converting LDL cholesterol into HDL cholesterol, and helps to convert cholesterol into bile acids.

Levocarnitine fumarate (L-Carnitine)

  • L-carnitine is an amino acid that your body uses to burn fat molecules for energy. It helps to transport fat into your mitochondria (the energy powerhouses of your cells), where it can be used for energy.
  • L-carnitine may also assist in reducing the muscle soreness after exercise, and can help to improve your stamina and performance when you exercise.
