Cheese Scones

Cheese Scones

These scones are just so easy to make and great for afternoon teas or breakfast. Best of all they are Gluten and Wheat Free!

  • 1 ½ cups Healtheries Gluten Free Baking Mix
  • 1 tsp baking powder*
  • Pinch of salt
  • 50g butter
  • ½ cup grated cheese (we use Fat Reduced Edam)
  • ½ cup fat reduced milk

* To ensure this recipe is completely gluten free please use gluten free baking powder

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C and Lightly dust an oven tray with Baking Mix.
  2. Sift Baking Mix, baking powder and salt into a large bowl and cut the butter into mixture until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  3. Stir in cheese then a d milk and mix quickly to form a soft dough with a knife.
  4. Knead the dough a few times and shape into a 2.5 cm thick square. Cut out 6 rounds (or cut into squares) and place on prepared oven tray.
  5. Brush the tops of your scones with milk and bake for 13-15 minutes.

Serving Suggestions

Fat reduced spread or top with your favourite relish or chutney
